CSF Briefs Congressmen on Introduced FAET Legislation
Washington, DC - July 16 - The Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation (CSF) hosted a Capitol Hill briefing, sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), where members of Congress, leaders of conservation organizations and industry representatives were informed about the inequity that exists in the excise tax payment schedule for firearms and ammunition manufacturers.

North Carolina Fishing Access in Jeopardy
Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus members, U.S. Sens. Elizabeth Dole and Richard Burr and U.S. Rep. Walter Jones have introduced legislation in the Senate and House of Representatives in the wake of a consent decree filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, that prevents off-road vehicle and citizen access, including recreational fishing, to a significant portion of this National Seashore to protect endangered shorebirds and sea turtles. The legislation would reinstate the Interim Management Strategy governing off-road vehicle use on Cape Hatteras National Seashore (CHNS). The reinstatement of the original Interim Management Strategy (IMS), issued by the National Park Service (NPS) on June 13, 2007, would set aside the mandates and requirements established by the consent decree. more...
Congress Passes Clean Boating Act
Washington, DC - July 23 - CSF and the fishing and boating community hailed the passage of the Clean Boating Act. Now, America's 17-million recreational boaters and anglers no longer have to worry about applying for a federal permit for incidental water discharge such as emptying their livewells and rainwater runoff. more...
MPAs seen as the "single greatest threat to the fishing tackle industry"
A quiet storm has been brewing in fishing waters off coastal states and as it gains momentum, it's impact could be devestating to recreational fishing. CSF recently convened a breifing for Members of Congress to hear first hand from fishing organizations and industry how MPA's pose the "single greatest threat to the fishing tackle industry"
